The Splendiferous Array of Culinary Tools

I am absolutely in lust with this poster from Pop Chart Lab displaying The Splendiferous Array of Culinary Tools. I just want to order it, frame it, and display it in my kitchen. My favorite is the "Those That Manipulate" category, specifically the "Meat Manipulations".

It got me thinking about some of my favorite culinary tools. Surprisingly, as I created my list I discovered that my favorites were the simplistic. In celebration of the Oscars this weekend, I thought I would award some of my hardworking kitchen hardware for their contribution to my cooking.

The Most Nostalgic Tool...

...goes to my whisk. One of my earliest childhood memories is helping my grandma in the kitchen and whisking up eggs. As a little ankle biter, it left a distinct impression in my memory, especially since we never used a mixer. Everything was done by hand. In fact, I did not even own a hand mixer until last year. My buff biceps are proof of this.

My Favorite Tool...

...goes to the meat tenderizer. There is just something about taking your frustrations out on a piece of meat. Who needs a food processor when I can just pound it out.

Most Used Tool...

...goes to my trusty knifes. Let's face it, almost every meal I prepare needs to little bugger at some point.

Most Random Purchase that Makes me Happy...

...goes to my Egg Slicer. Originally purchased it at a fundraiser as a impulse buy. But I use the darn thing all the time to cut mushrooms, kiwis, strawberries, and even small tomatoes.

Most Under-appreciated...

...goes to my jar opener. Was a free giveaway at my bank. It is made of a rubbery material and chewed to bits, but the thing works wonderfully. Combined with my buff arms from all that whisking, I have yet to meet a jar who could did not bow to my will.

So the question is, what are your favorite culinary tools?
